Open positions in the MICRESS group
(status Aug. 2011):
Access e.V. is a
private, non-profit research center associated with the Technical University
Aachen, RWTH. Access looks back on 25 years of successful R&D dedicated to
materials science and advanced casting technology.
The MICRESS group currently seeks to fill the following two positions:
- Material Scientist/Engineer or Physicist (Post Doc)
- Material Scientist/Engineer or Physicist (Ph.D. candidate)
Candidates should have a sound background in materials science, ideally
experience in the area of computer simulations of materials, material
microstructures and/or thermodynamics of alloys. Communication skills in
English (fluent) and German are expected.
Our research focus is applied phase field simulations for technical
materials and processes. In this context we offer a broad range of exciting
up-to-date topics and research opportunities of industrial relevance.
The open positions are related but not limited to:
- Microstructure evolution in
metal/ceramic joints during reactive air brazing
- Microstructure and defect
evolution in casting of technical aluminum alloys
Both topics are part of
ongoing interdisciplinary research projects with university partners and the FZ
Jülich. Successful candidates are expected to
contribute to both applications and the further development of the MICRESS
code.
We offer the perspective of personal and professional advancement within
an interdisciplinary, international team and the advantages of a medium-sized
enterprise.
